White Stretch Marks

Optimal treatment with 3 combined treatment protocols
certified by the FDA

White or silver stretch marks are the mature stretch marks, i.e. those that are present on the skin for a long time. For the stretch marks to be transformed from red to white, usually a period of six months to a few years is required. In comparison to red stretch marks, the white ones are more difficult to treat and treatment results are evident after a certain number of sessions through the application of combined procedures.
Our specialised medical practices apply 3 treatment protocols, according to your skin type, the condition and the body area:
> Microdermabrasion + RF Fractional Microneedling + Magellan® TruPRP™
> Carboxy therapy + Magellan® TruPRP™
> RF Fractional Microneedling + Magellan® TruPRP™

Through the selection of the appropriate treatment plan, the specialised dermatologist can treat a wide range of cases, minimising the possibility of any side effects, while achieving shorter recovery time with optimal results.

RF Fractional Microneedling
RF Fractional Microneedling procedure offers:
  • Activation of collagen and elastin production
  • Improvement of skin texture
  • Tightening of the skin pores
  • Improvement of skin firmness
RF Fractional Microneedling is an effective method that smoothes white stretch marks and improves skin elasticity and texture. The innovation of this procedure’s technology is the ability of RF energy to rebuild skin collagen.
RF energy penetrates deep in the skin through a "grid" of 49 insulated micro-needles covered with gold, which penetrate through the dermis carefully, without causing any damage to the epidermis. The released energy is targeted; it stimulates growth factor secretion and collagen production that reshape the skin layers, thus improving the appearance and texture of white stretch marks. Usually at least 3 RF Fractional Microneedling treatment sessions are required, 4-6 weeks apart.
Magellan® TruPRP™
Magellan® TruPRP™ procedure offers:
  • Smoothing and improvement of stretch marks
  • Skin rejuvenation, healing and regeneration
  • Improvement of skin texture and tone
  • Stimulation of new tissue formation
  • Utilisation of the cell regeneration mechanism
The new autologous mesotherapy Magellan® TruPRP™ with growth factors is a non invasive, safe and almost painless treatment for cell rejuvenation and regeneration, which is applied in between the Pulsed Dye LASER sessions to optimise stretch marks treatment effects.
It is a completely natural process, as it is based on administering to the patient his/her own platelet-rich plasma (PRP). Plasma (PRP) is infused in the treatment area to stimulate the cell rejuvenation and regeneration processes, releasing growth factors that produce elastin and collagen while stimulating the angiogenesis process and the formation of new tissue.

The points of excellence of the Magellan® TruPRP™ procedure:
  • Double centrifugations
  • Sophisticated platelet separation
  • 4-6 times greater concentration rates of growth factors
  • Certified by the FDA
  • Utilisation of the platelet “poor» plasma as a cream on the treatment area
  • High safety standards because without human hand intervention
Microdermabrasion treatment offers:
  • Cellular regeneration
  • Skin rejuvenation
  • Stimulation of collagen production
  • Improvement of skin texture and colour
  • Enhancement of blood circulation in the dermis

The advanced procedure for the exfoliation of the outer layer of the skin or microdermabrassion, as indicated by its name, rejuvenates the skin and helps in the production of collagen. This improves both skin texture and colour.

The Microdermabrasion procedure is gradual. To achieve visible improvement, in certain cases, 6 – 12 high-frequency sessions are required with local anaesthesia. It always works better in combination with other procedures for the improvement of white stretch marks.

The points of excellence of Microdermabrasion:
  • Non-invasive procedure
  • Certified by the FDA
  • Painless
  • Quick procedure
  • Suitable for all skin types
  • Safe and effective
Carboxytherapy procedure offers:
  • Stimulation of fresh collagen production
  • Increased oxygen in the blood
  • Skin tightening
  • Improvement of white stretch marks

Carboxytherapy utilises CO2 (carbon dioxide), which is present in our body, in order to enhance blood circulation in areas of the skin with lesions. CO2 is infused directly in the stretch mark, creating small bubbles that appear below the skin for a few minutes. This increase of oxygen and nutrients lead to cellular rejuvenation and production of more collagen.

The procedure is perfectly safe and suitable for all skin types. Usually 6 treatment sessions are required, depending on the severity of the problem and the customised treatment plan.

The points of excellence of Carboxytherapy:

  • Safe treatment
  • Minimally invasive
  • Clinically proven
  • FDA-certified

The points of excellence of the RF Fractional Microneedling procedure
  • Non invasive procedure
  • FDA-certified
  • Short duration of the sessions
  • No side effects
  • For all skin types
  • No risk of skin pigmentation

Diet Tips

What is the cause of stretch marks?
Stretch marks appear as a result of sudden fluctuation of body weight in the dermis, the middle skin layer characterised by elasticity that helps skin maintain its shape. When the dermis is stretched constantly, as time goes by the skin becomes less elastic and the connective fibres within it break. The result is what we know as stretch marks.
Why is it difficult to treat stretch marks?
The main reasons contributing in the formation of stretch marks include genetic factors, increased body steroid levels and conditions such as pregnancy, obesity and weight gain. If a microscope is used, stretch marks look like scars. To treat them, usually with a combination of procedures the best results can be achieved. Their treatment depends on the area of the body and its size, as well as on whether the stretch marks are new (red) or old (white).
What is the difference between red and white stretch marks?
Stretch marks can be categorised in two groups: red (new) and white (old). Initially stretch marks have a pink colour sometimes with mild itching. Then the skin around the stretch marks becomes “flattened” and “thin”. Gradually they become longer and wider, with red or purple colour. Once mature their red or pink colour gives its place to white or silver. They may also appear slightly compressed and irregular in shape or length..
What is the difference between red and white stretch marks treatment?
The treatment of stretch marks while they are still red is easier as compared to the white ones. The new stretch marks can be usually treated with a combination of LASER treatments. White stretch marks can be usually treated better with a combination of radiofrequencies, Carboxy and lately autologous mesotherapy (Platelet-Rich Plasma, PRP). More sessions will be probably needed for better clinical outcome of white stretch marks.
White stretch marks usually appear as hypopigmented lesions. This means that stretch marks have faint tint as compared to natural skin colour. LASER and RF Microneedling technology can stimulate collagen and elastin and improve the appearance of stretch marks. However, not all persons are the right candidates, and the size of stretch marks, as well as the patient’s realistic expectations and the colour of the skin play a significant role.
Is it possible to completely eliminate white stretch marks?
Most stretch marks can be effectively treated with a combination of treatments, such as fractional LASER, RF Fractional Microneedling, Carboxytherapy, Microdermabrasion, and Magellan® TruPRP™. Most patients see significant improvement of stretch marks appearance after 6 treatment sessions.
Are different treatments used for white stretch marks on darker skins?
RF Fractional Microneedling and Carboxytherapy can be safely applied on all skin types. There is no risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation because both the melanocytes and the epidermis remain intact during the procedure. However, depending on skin colour and the form of stretch marks, different procedures can be combined, always based on the medical evaluation.
How does the Carboxytherapy procedure act on white stretch marks?
This procedure aims at administering CO₂ in the body. Similarly to scars, dark circles and cellulite, stretch marks are considered to be caused partly because of poor blood circulation in a certain area of the body. The infusion of a small amount of carbon dioxide on the areas with stretch marks, we help the body increase the inflow of oxygen in that area, thus forcing the red blood cells to intake the excess CO₂ infused and send it to the lungs to be exhaled. In addition, Carboxytherapy enhances the production of collagen, allowing the restoration of skin damage.
Is the new autologous Mesotherapy Magellan® TruPRP™ safe for the treatment of stretch marks?
Of course. Magellan® TruPRP™ is an absolutely safe treatment, as it is based on the collection and reusage of the patient’s own blood. Furthermore, the device used for double centrifugation has been approved by the strict US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which demonstrates its high level of safety and maximum effectiveness.
Why should I choose the new autologous Mesotherapy Magellan® TruPRP™ instead of traditional mesotherapy?
Traditional new autologous mesotherapy is based on the principle of one centrifugation (one rotation), which removes the red blood cells from plasma, providing a mixture of PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) & PPP (Platelet Poor Plasma) containing small quantities of platelets and low concentration. On the other hand, the new autologous mesotherapy Magellan® TruPRP™, thanks to double centrifugation, achieves enhanced and sophisticated separation and 4-6 times greater concentration rate of growth factors.
Are there any side effects with Magellan® TruPRP™?
No, there are no side effects or allergic reactions, because the new autologous mesotherapy procedure is based on the collection and reuse of the patient’s own blood. It is possible that mild redness may appear on the treatment area, which only lasts for 20-30 minutes.
Does Magellan® TruPRP™ treatment hurt?
The procedure is almost painless and patients feel comfortable as local anaesthetic cream is applied before treatment.
Can everyone undergo the Magellan® TruPRP™ procedure?
Every person that can donate blood can undergo the Magellan® TruPRP™ procedure. If your donate blood regularly and you want to undergo the new autologous mesotherapy for the treatment of stretch marks, you will have to wait 2-3 weeks after the day of blood donation.
What should I do before and after the treatment of stretch marks?
  • Avoid sun exposure for one month before and after the treatment. If you already know that you will be exposed to sun, make sure that you use sunscreen with a high protection factor.
  • You should not undergo any other dermatological treatments during the three weeks before and after treatment. This includes hair removal procedures and peeling.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise, sauna and swimming pool after treatment, until skin redness disappears.
  • Avoid hot showers for one day after treatment and do not rub or scrub the area that has been treated until your skin has calmed down.
  • At least 4 days before the treatment of stretch marks, it is advised to avoid pain killers, vitamin E and other blood thinning medicines.
  • Do not apply any cream on your skin 3 days before and after the treatment.
  • Follow the treatment that will be suggested by your doctor after each session.

I lost weight suddenly two years ago and stretch marks appeared on my arms, thighs and hips. I used various creams with no success! And then a friend suggested IQ. I completed the treatment proposed by my doctor and all marks have almost disappeared. Amazing!

Olga S.

My stretch marks on my hips appeared when I was still a teenager. I didn’t like my looks after the age of 18. Over the years I’ve tried some treatments but my problem couldn’t be solved. Everyone said that it was difficult in my case. But when I visited IQ the results were eye-catching on my skin. It’s definitely worth it… the best!
